7,100 Colorado jobs were added in January dropping unemployment to 7.3%which was the largest month over month gain since October 2012’s increase of 9,000. Colorado Department of Labor reported that the private business sector added 8,200 jobs in January while government laid off 1,100 jobs. Transportation, utilities and construction were the biggest gainer while manufacturing shed 1,200 jobs. Year-over-year Colorado added 57,000 non-farm-payroll jobs totaling 2,342,900, with 54,200 being from the private sector and 2,800 from the public sector. Unemployment in Colorado has dropped one percentage point since January 2012.
