City of Glendale is planning a $175 million development called Glendale 180. The planned development will be built on the south of Virginia Ave. between Colorado Blvd. and Cherry Street. The $175 million entertainment and retail venue will have a total of 303,225 square feet of leasable space, with 109,000 square feet for entertainment and 194,000 square feet for retail. The development will include 2,270 parking spaces in various parking structures, including surface-level, aboveground and underground parking. City of Glendale is hoping to capture some of the 140,000 employees who work within three miles of the planned Glendale 180 development.

City of Glendale is projecting the project will create 1,242 construction jobs and another 1,016 permanent jobs upon completion. The project will be financed by both public and private money and City of Glendale will issue bonds just before construction begins this fall. The bonds will be backed by the revenue from tax-increment financing and used for infrastructure, parking and other public improvements.

Turner Construction will be the general contractor and Houston-based Wulfe & Co will develop the project which is being designed by Gensler. The project is scheduled to break ground this fall and expected to open in fall of 2017.
