The Cincinnati based Kroger Co signed a lease to build an urban format store at the planed multifamily development by Nichols Partnership. The $82 million development calls for 312 class A apartments, 42,000 square foot grocery store and additional 9,000 square feet ground floor retail space. In addition to opening the downtown store, King Soopers is close to signing a lease to open a store at the University of Colorado Hospital redevelopment site at E. 9th Ave. and Colorado Blvd. In June 2012, King Soopers opened a King Soopers MarketPlace in Commerce City west of the Reunion Community.  The store is double in size to a regular King Soopers (123,000 square feet) and includes home furnishings, vitamin and a jewelry store

ARA Colorado which is tracking more than 20 apartment projects is projecting 5,000 new apartments will be built over the next year or two. The site is located within the Denver Union Station redevelopment area and part of the thriving Central Platte Valley area.
