Colorado unemployment drops to 6.9% in May…

April was the largest one-month job gain for Colorado since the start of 2013 which added 11,600 jobs to its payrolls according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. The last month gain of 11,600 jobs was an increase of 500 jobs compared to March numbers, 10,800 in February and 7,100 in January. The average monthly gain over the last 12 months is 5,267 jobs. The private sector was the net job gainer while the public sector remained unchanged. This puts Colorado just about 800 payroll jobs below the state’s 2008 peak of 2,363,500 excluding self-employed and farm workers. Colorado unemployment rate peaked in October and November of 2010 to 9.1% during the Great Recession and has dropped every month since June 2012 where the unemployment rate stood at 8.2%.
